First draft of my new play submitted to theatre in NY: Done.

Closet cleaned out: Not Done.

Errands completed: None.

Croquet game with cousins and a puppy: Success.

Massage booked for tomorrow: Aw Yeah.

Feeling good: You betcha.

OBSERVATION:

To survive in the 13th century you would need an endless supply of swords and be really good at braiding hair.

OBSERVATION:

You would get bitch slapped like, every day, or have rocks thrown at your face even if people liked you. Because, apparently, if people like you they throw rocks at your face and they do the same thing if they hate you.

OBSERVATION:

You would never be able to sleep because dudes would constantly be showing up on your turf trying to take your turf, or your woman, or burn your turf. Hence the need for previously mentioned endless supply of swords.

OBSERVATION:

Everything you own would eventually be set on fire. Including your horses. And your woman.

CONCLUSION:

I would hate living in the 13th century.

Observations made during a work break viewing of Braveheart with Josebee:

Horses were the motorcycles of the 13th century and hankies with pressed flowers were the Letterman jackets.

My show closed on Sunday, I am in the middle of writing a new show (the deadline is Friday), and I start rehearsals for the workshop of a different new show on Thursday.

I am out in the country with Josebee on our writer's retreat getting things done. Tomorrow we have a schedule with a lot of work but, most importantly, we have scheduled a trip to the swimming hole.

Swimming holes are a huge part of my process.

Time for bed!
