A LITTLE BIT OF FEEL GOOD.

Yesterday at work I was feeling a little funked out because I was stuck in an office instead of in a theatre in beautiful California doing plays with people I love. This, my friends, is what we theatre folks call "Post Show Blues." After a show closes, you suddenly find yourself feeling a little lost with too much time on your hands. It's weird. Even if you're busy and feeling great, you can simultaneously feel slightly unhinged and sometimes lonely. A cast becomes like a family, you see them 6 days a week, and then piff! Gone!

I was gchatting with my darling Swendolyn and moments after expressing my slight sadness, my email inbox began overflowing with messages titled, "Feel Good."

He sent me the following to cheer me up:

This one made me feel A LOT better:

Swendolyn said the title he came up with for this one is "Life Isn't Fair."

This was the last one because after receiving it I said:

"Okay, this just scares the sh*t out of me."

Thank you to Swendolyn for being a stellar homie.

DA DIP.

I have been trying to run outside because I know the warm evenings are going to be chilly before I know it. My route takes me by a big swimming pool that I thought belonged to the YMCA, but today I decided I'd double check just to make sure I wasn't passing up an opportunity for a free dip.

GOOD THING I DID BECAUSE IT IS A FREE COMMUNITY POOL!

I immediately emailed the Roomie who was writing from home and asked her if she wanted to go as soon as I got home from work. She initially sent an enthusiastic, "Yes! As soon as I finish this editorial!"

I was filled with joy.

Then, I received an email saying something along the lines of, "I just found out I have another assignment, blarh blarh blaha blahaaa."

This is when I had to be a good friend. A good friend has to point out bad decision making, even if it is hard. A good friend has to throw down when it really counts.

So, I busted out my tough love and responded:

"UNACCEPTABLE. RESPONSE DENIED. PLEASE REVISE."

She saw the light and soon we had our suits on, towels in hand, and were off to the pool. It was glorious, it was free, it was a giant expanse of clean water filled with adorable kids and fun families and chilly goodness. Bless you, City of New York, for this gift.

I cannot wait to go back and I am so sad that the pool is closing after Labor Day. I may just have to do da dip every day until Monday...

PENCIL THAT IN.

Just some pencil sculptures...

that are BLOWING MY MIND.

UP ON THE ROOF.

Reunited with Swendolyn and it feels so good.

We are hoping this makes the cover of New York Magazine.

HERE I AM.

I am definitely back in New York and am slowly but surely feeling more "awake" but I am still kind of dazed and out of it. I also managed to feel a cold coming on within a 3 hour window on Friday, so I have spent most of this weekend sleeping, lounging, watching movies, and sitting around with friends. My head is a little fuzzy and my throat is a little scratchy, but I think I caught it before it could get really bad.

This not-totally-full-blown cold has actually been quite delightful and a lovely excuse to mellow out!

So far, I have watched A League of Their Own and The Good Girl courtesy of Fegurgur's home DVD collection. I wept during A League of Their Own even though there is "no crying in baseball" and I had mixed feelings about the Jennifer Aniston movie. It just made me sleepy, which I suppose is good because I was watching it before I went to bed.

I can't believe that next week is September because after that it will be October and that means it will be my Birthday and then, well, it is Thanksgiving and Christmas. I mean, I should really start greeting everyone with "Happy Holidays" or "Happy New Year" in, like, 3 weeks.

Who am I going to be for Halloween??!!?? What am I going to do in the Thanksgiving Talent Show????

Sh*t.

I am starting the process of apartment hunting in Brooklyn and I am getting rather excited...I had no idea how ready I was to move outside of the city but I am chomping at the bit.

Bring on more space and more quiet. My fuzzy head could use it.

URMMM...

I'm back in the city but I feel totally discombobulated. I don't feel like I live here, I feel like I'm dreaming, the weather is weird, and my stove doesn't work so I can't cook anything.

IS THIS REAL LIFE?

I FEEL LIKE DAVID AFTER THE DENTIST.

Except I'm not on drugs and I'm not 7 years old.

Back to work tomorrow. That should be interesting...

SO LONG FOR NOW.

Bye bye, my dear city by the bay.

I've had one of the best summers of my life.

I have a good feeling that the luck the little ladybug gave me will continue on once I'm back in NYC.

I'll be back soon.
