BOTTOMS UP. AND, SCENE.

Today I was getting ready for an audition and had a nasty case of the hiccups. I tried all my usual cures and nothing was working, so my last resort was to drink something carbonated or sugary to make them go away (that always works).

I don't ever have soda in my fridge, me and the Gurgs usually stick to water and iced tea, but I was thinking maybe I had some juice or something. I opened the fridge door, I had to leave in about 30 seconds, and the only thing that would work was an iced cold can of

Bud Light.

I had no choice, but to pop that sucker open and down a few chugs before running out the door.

Worked like a charm!

I'M SO EXCITED.

Just got my official contract offer today to be flown out to California to be in a show for a few weeks! I leave at the end of next week and will be chillin' out max at home in sunny (but not humid) California while getting paid to do what I love until the end of August.

What could be better?!?!??

I really am so excited and so, so grateful. It is a stellar playwright, cast, and with a theatre company I adore.

This whole thing is turbo fantasy.

DRESS ME UP.

When do I get to see this?!

Maybe I'll be her for Halloween.

TWELVE OWAHZ.

I just worked a 12 hour day!

Booyah!

I'm freaking exhausted!

But I made money so I ain't complaining!

Booyah!

This photo has nothing to do with my post except that it is totally fantasy!

Fantasy is my new word I'm using when I think something is super cool!

Fantasy!

Use it!

I am so going to bed!

500 DAYS OF SUMMER REVIEW.

I have to say that I liked it! It was not what I expected at all, but I think that is a great thing...Sanchez and I were both pleasantly surprised.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is BEYOND adorable in this movie and I would totally date him.

I mean, I kind of always had a crush on him back from his days on "3rd Rock From The Sun"

Or his most excellent performance in the all time classic (and I'm not joking here...I LOVE this movie):

Ten Things I Hate About You.

I'm pretty certain that if and when we meet he will ask me out. And I will say yes, obvi.

Anyways, it is a quirky movie that doesn't follow the format of a normal romantic comedy; it is dark, wacky, depressing, and funny.

I give it a thumbs up. Go and be open to the weirdness.

And be open to seeing J Go-Lev without his shirt on.

HUZZAH.

THUMBS UP.

CREATIVITY, COMICS, MOVIES, AND WANDS.

Today I am seeing 500 Days of Summer.

I am beyond pumped and it might turn into a double feature with a viewing of Harry Potter tonight. Only bummer about possibly seeing Harry Potter is that last summer I did a Harry Potter play for the Make-A-Wish foundation and they gave us our very own, hand-crafted wooden wands for the show. Mine is in California right now which means I cannot bring it to the theatre and wave it around during the movie.

Tres tragic.

It is going to be one helluva creative weekend, seeing as I am filming the webisode I wrote tomorrow and am then seeing 3 plays in one day on Sunday. I'm beyond thrilled to see the Norman Conquests trilogy on their final day of performances. It is supposed to be incredible.

Bring on the creativity. I love weekends like this.

I'm off to go buy animal print fabrics to use on set tomorrow.

And, the past few weeks have been the best ever because there have been not one, but two (!) BEK comics in each my New Yorkers the past few weeks. How great is that?!?!? Two BEK's a week?! I am in heaven.

They guy is on a roll and I freaking love him.

NOW I'VE REALLY DONE IT.

Another bangin' panini.

This one might be the ultimate of ultimates:

All ingredients fresh from the farmer's market...

1 Pink Lady Apple
1 Sweet Potato
Mix some light brown sugar and cinnamon together with a little bit of water and lemon juice and spread on apple and sweet potato prior to grilling.

Drizzle a slice of multi-grain bread with a smidglet of olive oil and grill for a few minutes.

Put it all on the bread with a few mixed greens and few small slices of parmesan.

Enjoy while your mouth freaks out from all the deliciousness.

Sometime I am going to get a picture of one of my creations up here, but they are just so good that I can't wait and I eat them, like, immediately.

Someday, my friends. Someday...

FREE FORM.

We really had an amazing time at the museum.
We free-danced with the art:

We slept with Andy Warhol:

And I learned that my friends would still be friends with me if I looked like this:

In drastic contrast to this past weekend, it is rainy and kind of chilly today. It almost feels like late fall or something, but I am kind of enjoying the drizzle and the lower temperatures. As we all know, I usually hate the rain, but today it isn't too bad!

I am dying to see this:

Could be perfect for a rainy evening...

BRIEF NOTES.

After an epic weekend of museums, picnics, concerts, and visiting a friend's 92 year old Grandpa, I am a little beat.

And I woke up this morning to a Blackberry screen that is apparently freaking out.

But what a wonderful weekend it was.

SO wonderful.

Pictures and news to follow after a few busy days are over.

2 thoughts in closing:

I am happy we landed on the moon and so very sad that Frank McCourt has passed away.

WHIP IT. WHIP IT GOOD.

I think/I know that I am totally going to see this.

PANINI P.S.

The panini I just made was off the chizain.

Fresh whole grain bread.

Freshly made mozzarella.

Cherry tomatoes.

Grilled portobello mushrooms.

Grilled eggplant.

Basil.

Balsamic and olive oil drizzled on top.

PERFECTION IN MY TUMMY.

GEEEEEEZ.

Today I moved a family from a six room apartment into a 7 room in the same building as part of my job as a "Professional Organizer."

I feel like I am about to keel over and die.

I unpacked over 100 boxes today and I am not joking.

I don't even need a cocktail because I already feel drunk from exhaustion.

Tomorrow: "organizing" day 2.

BARF.

I am totes making a panini and going to bed in T-1 hour.

MOONWALKER OR MOONWHAT-THE-HELL-WAS-THAT. OR HOW MICHAEL JACKSON IS MY FRIEND.

Last night we honored the King of Pop in my friend's backyard in Brooklyn and watched, projected on a large wall, MJ's Moonwalker.

They had a shrine with photos of MJ and a delicious ice cream cake with his name on it. It was a memorial that was, well, fit for a King.

I don't know if any of you have seen Moonwalker, but it is completely and totally insane. It is going to take me a lifetime to process what I saw because it was so weird, parts of it were so magical, and my mind was blown in more directions than I knew what to do with. At times my head hurt and other times I thought my heart was going to explode with amazement.

Please enjoy the attempt Wikipedia makes at trying to summarize one section of the film (note: Mr. Big is played by Joe Pesci):

"At the climax of the song, Mr. Big lays siege to the club and kidnaps one of the children, Katie. Jackson follows them back to Big's lair and ends up surrounded by his henchmen. Mr. Big appears and mentally tortures Jackson by threatening to inject Katie with highly addictive narcotics. While Katie manages to wriggle free from being injected, Mr. Big decides he's had enough and orders his men to kill Katie before finishing off Jackson, but not before a shooting star flies by. Jackson transforms into a giant robot and kills all of Mr. Big's soldiers. After Jackson turns into a giant spaceship, Mr. Big gets into a large hillside mounted energy cannon, firing on the spaceship into a nearby ravine. The children are his next target, but the spaceship returns from the ravine just in time to fire a beam in the cannon with Mr. Big inside, saving the children from destruction."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonwalker

I know, right? It makes absolutely no sense. At one point, MJ is a claymation rabbit, at one point he is a robot, there are kids, he runs through a field with Sean Lennon and a soccer ball, you see Pee Wee, there are spiderwebs and tarantulas, shooting stars, and guns.

That movie could not have helped MJ's public image as being crazy because I was stone cold sober last night and felt like I was on more drugs than my girl Liza.

Here is one of the best parts of the movie that is truly incredible.

Before you watch it, I would like to state the following:

1. The kid playing MJ is Brandon Quintin Adams
2. Brandon Quintin Adams played Kenny DeNuenez in "The Sandlot"
3. My co-counselor at camp this year is dating the guy who played Timmy Timmons in "The Sandlot"
4. Therefore, I am friends with Brandon Quintin Adams
5. Since I am friends with Brandon Quintin Adams, I am friends with:
Michael Jackson

BOOYA.

In closing, the weather report for last night called for rain. It was perfectly clear until, just as the film was ending, the credits started to roll and raindrops started to fall. It was as if Michael was silently weeping on us from above.

RIP MJ.

I know you are off walking on the moon where you belong.

LAZY DAY.

Today I am having my first truly lazy day in quite some time. I woke up late (thanks to an impromptu dance party in a bar last night with the Mayor of Avenue A), had breakfast, chatted on the phone, spent time on my roof, came back downstairs, took a bath, and now I am making a weepini which I will consume and then I will take a nap.

This evening will consist of my honoring the memory along with my friends of the one, the only:

Michael Jackson.

We are attending a BBQ in MJ's honor where there will be a rooftop screening of:

I can't wait for tonight.

And I can't wait to take a nap.

And hot damn my weepini is delicious!!

DON'T BE A WEENIE, EAT A PANINI.

GLORY BE! I GOT A PANINI MAKER!!!

I absolutely love paninis. My Mom has given me the greatest gift of all time: a beautiful, fabulous, shiny panini maker. I am going to be eating paninis every day for the rest of my life.

I already made one with grilled zucchini, eggplant, onions, and mozzarella and I plan on making even more of them throughout the rest of the week and then I will be able to make weepinis, which are weekend paninis. Obviously.

But, the best thing about it is it isn't just a panini maker...the thing is basically a GRILL.

YOU CAN GRILL ANYTHING.

Shrimp, veggie burgers, s'mores...anything you want to grill you can.

I really should do an infomercial. If you ever find yourself in NYC, let me know and I will make you one mean panini.

OOPS.

I came home from work today and sat down on the couch to take a
"quick power nap."

I woke up an hour later because I had been sleeping with my mouth open and had literally drooled all over my hand.

I'm awake now.

WAKE UP.

I had some serious trouble getting up this morning. I am still pretty jet lagged and not exactly turned around, so I've been going to be later than normal and waking up throughout the night.

My head is a widdle bit fwoggy.

I also am not consuming caffeine or general cr*p food for at least the next week or so in attempt to realign my system after my vacation. Let's just say this cowgirl had a few too many s'mores at camp and tacos in Texas.
OOOOOOF.
In the meantime, I really like this picture (and most things) by Matte Stephens.

HOME SWEET HOME.

After a great trip, I am back in my apartment.

I must say, I did not realize how much I missed the city until I got on the plane to come home. When I left for my vacation, I was really ready to get out of here - I was a little stressed out, had too much going on, and needed a break. But today, after two weeks of away time, there was no place I wanted to go except back to Manhattan.

I love that I can walk everywhere or hop on the subway, I don't have to have a car, I can pop around the corner to the grocery store or to the movie theatre, go sit outside in the park, or lounge on my fire escape. Even though it sometimes feels like a hassle to live here in the city, there is no other place in the world like it and I absolutely love it here.

I cannot wait to crawl into my very own bed and sleep, sleep, sleep.

In fact, I am going to go get ready to do that now.

Goodnight!
